Late 19C Paris School Male Nude
Pencil & Charcoal Sketch of a Male Nude
Late 19C
This is an extremely well executed full length sketch of a male nude, of good size, clearly by a very good hand and dating to the late 19th Century.
It is on Michallet hallmarked laid paper which was a particular favourite of the likes of Georges Seurat and John Singer Sargent amongst others.
The lettering top right probably indicates that this is of European (probably French) origin due to the strike through of the number 7, possibly Paris school.
Provenance: UK Private collection
Frame size 33 1/2" x 21 3/4", inner mount size 23 1/4" x 12"
Good overall condition (some creasing as shown in photos), solid oak period frame, professional double mount, ready to hang
