William Cannon b.1840

Original watercolour, signed and dated 1914, inscribed verso 'Off Dover'

William Cannon was born in 1840, possibly hailing from Newcastle. He was a pupil of Thomas Bush Hardy. He worked mainly as a marine painter and was awarded a gold medal in Paris in 1877.

This painting is typical of his work and clearly shows the influence of his tutor.

Mount size 12" x 20"Painting size 6 1/4" x 14 1/4"

Good condition, some very minor foxing as per photos, new acid free double mount
